Michael Hamline

birthday: October 5th, 1977
funniest/most memorable birthday: During my 10th or 9th grade year I was attending boarding school. My parents traveled 4-5 hours from another country to take me into town for the weekend and celebrate my birthday. They were several hours late because of a fender bender they had with an army truck (In Kenya it doesn’t matter who really caused the wreck it is always the foreigner’s fault). Anyway, I began to believe they had forgot me and became very upset. My roommates kept trying to encourage me-It looks kind of funny to see a 15-16 year old guy cry. However, my parents did show up in the end and it was a good birthday weekend.
where were you born: Springfield, Missouri
brothers/sisters: Amanda, age 22
favorite food: tie between pizza or fried chicken & mashed potatoes
favorite color: I’m a guy.
what I do to relax: read (especially books by Clive Cussler) or watch a baseball game (unless the Yankees are winning then I scream at the TV)
what I do for fun: Hike, camp, canoe, outdoor activities.
my biggest pet peeve: Talking face-to-face with someone who gets a call on their cell phone and stops their conversation with you to hold an extended conversation with the person on the other end of the line.
what's in your cd player right now? Jeremy Camp (If you asked me yesterday it would have been Rascal Flats.)
something others would be suprised to know about me: I have been arrested overseas. Failure to show the proper respect for another country’s flag.
and the dinner question: any five dinner guests, dead or alive: Apostle Paul, Adoniram Judson, William Carey, David Livingston and Lewis & Clark. The first 4 for their missionary lifestyle. Lewis & Clark because it would be great to be some of the first people from your ethnic group to explore a “new” land.
favorite Bible verse(s): Eph 1:3-14
all time favorite books (other than Bible): Anything by John Piper (Don’t Waste Your Life, Future Grace, Desiring God); Evangelism & the Sovereignty of God by J.I. Packer; Lord of the Rings.
a memorable spiritual experience in your life: Having the privilege of sharing the gospel one day while I was out working to try and start a fundraising card in Conway. It was great to see the Lord give me a desire to share with her and that the opportunity came about in the routine of life. It made me realize that we probably miss many opportunities to share God’s gospel because we’re either ignorant or don’t have concern for people’s eternity.
the most rewarding thing about your job/life: The opportunity that Bible Church has provided for deepening my study of Bible and theology; the chance to pass on what I am learning to others.
when I'm gone, what I want others to say about me: All that guy ever wanted to talk about was God and Jesus.
your favorite childhood pet & it's name: daschund named Fupi Tamu (Swahili for Short & Sweet). My sister and I played hide and seek with Fupi Tamu. My sister would hide and then I would slide Fupi on his back across the floor and run as fast as I could to hide. He would look for us and bark when he found us. Sadly a car didn’t see him one night and took his life.
most embarrassing moment: 10th grade when my family was having an evening out with my girlfriend’s family. Courtney was coming over to our hotel the next day to spend time with my family and my mom told her she would get to see me in my Speedo.
most influential person in your life (besides Jesus): My parents, Paul and Gail Hamline

I'd like to see you in a Speedo. I didn't know guys like pink. I can't believe you were arrested! What were you doing?
